"Sometimes you look at something and wonder how it can work, a bag full of bits that can be so effectual, don’t be mislead. Easily installed in minutes, the lock is one of those things you wonder how you have done without for so long. We installed two CG locks for the Passenger Laps at Castle Combe, and every one of the passengers was securely held in place for their time in the car. No movement even when they were not able to reach the footwell / bulkhead.
As a driver, its the closest thing to a full harness without the restrictions. Lap after lap I did not move and felt more attached to the car than ever.
Further two days at Spa had me more convinced than ever that these trick little locks are a must for road and especially track.
Many thanks to CG Lock, it is something I ensure is always fitted to whatever I am driving…."

"Anyway, I had new springs/dampers fitted and am very glad I fitted the CG-Lock a week later, because I tend to drive a lot more ’spirited’ these days and the CG-Lock keeps my big body in the seat. It feels very good to be a little bit better attached to the seat. More confidence, without the crampness of a full race harness"

"After purchasing a CG Lock and fitting it to my Vauxhall Vectra Sri, I was sceptical that such an easy device to fit could actually help me find some relief from the Lower Back Pain I have endured for years. The fact that this little device both secures me into my seat and keeps me in the correct posture position has given me in less than two weeks a 50% improvement from the pain I suffered after driving. It has also taught me to sit in a correct position when out of the car. If you have not yet purchased a CG Lock I certainly recommend you do."

"I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the effects of the CG-Lock which I bought from your company recently.
I’ve been suffering from chronic lower back pain for many years and recently decided to try & address the problem once & for all. Having previously tried the traditional medical route to no avail, in the spirit of ‘self-help’ I decided on a course of treatment from a chiropractor. He explained in some depth how poor posture could adversely affect the muscles & nerves in the lumbar region, resulting in increased pain & that I should make every effort to maintain ‘correct’ posture at all times. The CG-Lock was mentioned as a device that could help to promote this correct posture whilst driving.
My job entails a fair bit of driving and I was keen to try anything which would help to alleviate the awful pains I suffered after even a short drive. Also, as an advanced driver, who thoroughly enjoys the process (even in my little Yaris!), I was delighted to read that the CG-Lock could help me to enjoy my driving even more.
Well, after only a week I am pleased to report that I feel much better than I used to after being behind the wheel for any length of time. I don’t have that awful stiffness in my lower back when get out of the car, and I don’t feel the need to ‘shift’ constantly in an effort to find a comfortable position. I also noticed that because the device made me ‘sit up’ more, I had to adjust the rear-view mirror - I was literally an inch taller in the car!
I must admit that initially I was less concerned with the increased safety afforded by the CG-Lock than I was with the ‘posture’ benefits. But after having read the reports on your web-site concerning motor accident data I am very glad that I now have this device fitted to my car. So glad in fact that I have bought another one for the passenger seat.
The fact that I feel safe & much more comfortable in my car is worth much more than the cost of this ingenious device. I would happily recommend the CG-Lock to any driver."

"I bought my CG Lock recently and have enjoyed the extra control that it gives me. Its a great little device that makes driving a more enjoyable experience, and even with sports seats it adds value by keeping me secure in my seat, allowing me to focus more on driving and less on bracing myself. Without changing my seats and getting harnesses, this is the next best thing (& a lot more cost effective !). Thx for a great product."

"Hope your excellent CG-Locks continue to fly off the shelves: the Lock in my M5 worked very well under significant load at the ‘Ring recently! It’s also clear the CG Lock maintains good posture by preventing slumping in the seat which can only reduce back ache and related problems.
I attach a pic of a somewhat faster car I drove at Spa two weeks ago [shown above]."

We go diving all around the UK and often end up heading down some remote winding track to get to the scuba dive site.
Having the CG lock fitted keeps us secure in our seats, stops us sliding around and means when we arrive we are in much better shape to go diving, even after a 5 or 6 hour journey.
Thanks once again."

"I write in relation to the CG Lock that I recently purchased for my car. I wish to express my enthusiasm for what I consider to be a must in any vehicle.
I have to admit that I was a little sceptical initially as I thought that, as I do not suffer from back pain and do not drive any great length, the CG Lock would be of no benefit to me. However, I can genuinely say that I have noticed an improvement in my own driving, which I can only attribute to the lock. I also feel much safer, to the extent that I am no longer entirely comfortable in cars that do not have the device fitted and often find myself pulling at the seatbelt in order to make it feel more secure. The safety figures are both frightening and astounding and I cannot believe that anyone would consider driving a vehicle without a CG Lock.
I would be happy to recommend the CG Lock to anybody. "

"We travelled, in January 2008, 5,676 miles from Suffolk to the SW Sahara and back.
Of course a chunk of that was on tarmac’ed roads but a lot was not - washed out wadis, rej, hamada (and the Hamada du Draa along which we vibrated is said to be the largest in the world) and just rocks, a landscape along the Algerian border of Morocco that often seemed to be from Mars or Saturn. This is the route, in places, of the Paris-Dakar Rally - cancelled this year because of terrorist attacks- so we took some of these stages at speed in our chipped 110 Defender TD5 hard-top.
ARB lockers, BF Goodrich A/Ts and Britpart heavy-duty (Cellular Dynamic) dampers outside, and CG-Lock and a roll-cage inside: we felt pretty secure and in control. Seats were Exmoor Trim with Outlast fabric but otherwise standard Defender design, and it was no hardship for those over 6 foot to be strapped tightly into them by the CG-Lock over long distances and warm, if not hot, conditions.
Navigation, video filming and radio work was made easier by not being strapped back into a full harness. Though we had fitted side bump pads over the top seat-belt mounts in case of rolling lurches we never actually needed them.
All in all CG-Lock is thoroughly recommended."

"Although this product has had lots of good write up’s, both via their website and in the OC, I was a little sceptical until I had tried it myself. The principle of the lock is that it fits to your existing seat belt clip and locks off the lap strap to keep you firmly in your seat. Now those of you that know me know that I ain’t on the small side and once the weight is moving it’s gonna be difficult to stop. Lock fitted though I was held in place with no movement whatsoever (Colin is here to tell the tale and did not have to be peeled off the door once!!) Where this little beauty came into it’s own was on the handling circuit and alpine route where being routed to the car allow me to really enjoy the cornering, feel what the car was doing and use the steering wheel for what it was designed for - not to hang onto to help stop you from sliding in the seat. It’s only when a piece of kit like this restrains you correctly that you appreciate how much you were moving throughout cornering and heavy braking. If you are teetering on the edge of buying one or are just as sceptical as I was - then do it, you will not regret it. You will be surprised how much this little gem does what it is supposed to do and how much you will benefit from it."

"I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the CG-Locks. I bought them for my Porsche 968CS but decided to try one in my sensible, daily-use car, a Honda CR-V. It’s a car which has to work hard for its living (see the attached picture) and go anywhere. I noticed on a recent 100-mile trip to the Scottish Borders that it seemed to be cornering more sharply than usual. At first I put it down to the slightly wider tyres recently fitted but then realised it was actually the CG-Lock that was making such a difference. The seats are not very supportive so brisk cornering has never been its forte, but the CG–Lock makes the car feel much sharper because it holds you firmly in the seat. I suspect it’s more comfortable on long, motorway journeys too. Thanks again for a great product. I might just get one for my daughter to use with her elder child’s booster seat."

"I regularly track, and take to circuits on the continent (Abbeville, Zolder and Spa so far, but further afield planned) which means long journeys. Even with the touring pack, the Exige isn’t the most comfortable of cars, let’s be honest, and as the car is the “Espionage” special edition, with an interior hand trimmed in wool and silk by Saville Row tailors, fitting harnesses or making significant modifications is out of the question.
I’ve found that the CG-Lock not only greatly helps with driver stability and hence car control on the track, keeping the hips tight to the seat means the lower back does far less work in ordinary driving, meaning long drives to continental circuits no longer result in a tired back by the time you get there.
As a result I’m now going to get one for the passenger seat.
Highly recommended!"

"I have suffered with lower back pain for many years and I find that the CG Lock helps maintain a better posture by not allowing you to slouch in the seat. I have used it on trips into Europe and get to the end of the journey with much less discomfort than usual. "I am used to racing cars with full harness set ups so was sceptical about how a small item like the CG-Lock could benefit me on track days in my road car. It turns out, I was very wrong! The CG Lock keeps me tightly within the seat without trouble. The best compliment I can give it is that you can’t even feel it is even there, which is exactly what you want when driving. I thought I would need to get some harnesses for my car but after trying the CG Lock I’ll be pocketing the change!"

"Just about recovered from the ‘Ring trip and have also managed to squeeze in a trackday also since! My thoughts regarding the CG Lock (you’ve probably heard them all before!):
- Very simple to fit
- Innovative design
- Functional - Really pulls you into the seat securing lower body which allows great feel for the car, essential in a rear wheel drive vehicle as big as the 350 as it enables better communication from the rear tyres
- Excellent for day to day journeys also- I find myself sitting more up right in the seat which in turn stops my low back aching at all
Overall I would recommend this product to any of my friends that drive- full stop. If they are enthusiastic drivers on the road or take part in track days then all the better as the benefits apply even more in those situations."

"I will admit, I was not a big supporter of your product. It was my opinion that some gizmo thingy that you stick on your seatbelt wasn’t going to do anything positive in the event of a serious crash. This opinion, wrongfully. was based on nothing more than testosterone. Not 5 minutes later, Don and I were upside down assessing each other when Don said, ‘are you ok?’ To my surprise I was. I was hanging there as tight in my seat with the CG-Lock as Don was in his harness. Thanks you for your CG-Lock and thank you Don for strapping me in with it."

"Tuesday April 29, 2008, Big Daddy (Don) took a spill on Rte 28 in Fontana, NC. There was a nice “volcano” pothole in the outside curve of the road that he hit, and lost control. He WAS NOT going fast, just couldn’t regain the control in the curve and flipped.
There are two amazing things… NEITHER Don nor Rich were hurt (Thanks to a harness and a CG Lock) and the car was drivable! MINIs are very strong little beasts!"

"I was a classic case, bus pass holder, aching back, leather seats in a 7 year old MGF and a good driving road to work. Since fitting the CG lock driving has become even more enjoyable as I feel part of the car, I do not move in the seat, feel safer and my back ache has gone. On my first and very recent track day at Castle Combe I went out as a passenger in a Subaru for sighting laps (without a CG-Lock) and felt like a cork bobbing about in a storm. I regard the CG lock as an essential piece of everyday kit. Fitting the CG lock has made an immediate difference - except on the bus!."

"After months of badgering I took my son Harry (see photo) to the Nurburgring. We did some slow laps to give him an idea of what being on a race track but it became apparent very quickly that with his booster seat the seat belt did not hold the lap belt tight enough. I bought the CG Lock for myself to use on track days and found that it held me in position almost as well as the harnesses do in my Lotus Exige. I also tried them with my son again and the lock just works perfectly holding him and the booster seat in place. I was that impressed that I purchased another for my daughter who also uses a booster seat. With the CG Lock in place they are secured securely in their boosters seats and do not move around. More importantly the booster seats themselves do not move or tilt as they sometimes do going around roundabouts. I would recommend this device to anyone that does track days without harnesses and parents with small children."

I have a complaint to make and that is that I feel insecure and vulnerable now when I am using a normal system without the CG Lock! "Hello all, just to let you know how good your product really is. I have only had one fitted for a few days now and I can keep my posture in the seat better instead of slouching. I feel safer with it fitted as I am kept in the seat far better than just the seat belt alone, especially if I have to brake hard. Cornering is much more fun now, being kept in the seat not sliding. I’ll have to put my bucket seats back in and get on a track now."

I put one on the passenger seat and everyone who was in the car with me couldn’t believe the difference (how secure they felt). It really did allow me to drive more aggressively, and increased the fun factor!!!!

"I’ll keep this short and sweet..the CG-Lock is a must!! Having completed 8 laps on The ‘Ring with it fitted, it really does do what it “says on the can”! The hips are firmly held in place allowing for a more stable driving position thus a better drive without having to brace the body using the steering wheel in fast bends. The steering wheel isn’t an extra which aids body stability, the CG-Lock gives the driver the opportunity to drive the car!!"

"Installation was a doddle. it took about 2-3 minutes to fit.
First impressions were really good, immediately I felt held into the seat, nice even pressure across my hips then I was off heading for some twisties!
I have to say I really enjoyed myself! The CG-Lock really gives a good feeling of security and I found myself throwing the car into every bend harder and faster than I have in the past & it left me hungry for more, I might go out for another play later! The device also actually made me feel safer, I felt secure more in my driving position. I’m quite slim being a 32 waist, 5′11, 76kgs so even though the sports seats in the SRI hug my thighs I sometimes feel a little unsupported and travelling along a bendy road I traverse in the seats and have to lean on the door or grab the seat, the CG-Lock has cured that for me. I don’t move around anywhere near as much because my hips are held firmly. I couldn’t help but grin I feel like I’ve got a new car, it made that much difference!
This really isn’t a gimmick I would definitely recommend getting one and especially at the price it is not much for the benefits I’ve experienced and it means you can keep your SRI sports seats and not have to shell out for buckets!”"

The already detailed steering feel came alive and it was as if the whole balance of the car changed! I bought a couple of these for my Toyota Supra mkIV, and as it has leather seats it is possible to slide around a little while driving, and especially during some ’spirited’ driving!
All I can say is, WOW! No seat retrims and no new expensive suspension set-ups necessary. Just set the CG Lock to fit you, and what a difference it makes! You do feel part of the car, and it seems like the car handles much better, and more like a smaller sports car than I’d even believe possible. Highly recommended!"

"They’re great, they keep me and my passenger properly positioned in the seat in normal day to day driving. whether your on the commute or the twisties in the countryside. On the circuit they’re simply brilliant, a lot less aggravation than having a harness bar and harnesses fitted and less restrictive as you can still move your upper body around. They do a very good job of keeping your mind on the track or road ahead and not worrying about trying to stay in place in your seat on the twisty stuff. Can’t recommend them enough."

"In two words, it works! Simple to fit and use, it holds you firmly where you should be and tempts you to go and find a bend.
Without the CG-Lock fitted the car goes one way, and you go the other, requiring effort to remain ‘in your seat’. The CG-Lock prevents this, you turn in and turn with the car giving, at first, a slightly strange sensation of being ‘at one with the car’. It also is beneficial under braking, as again, it prevents unwanted movement.
These benefits are felt during legal, safe road driving and I can only recommend this device to anyone who drives a car."

I have been so impressed by the CG-Lock and so shocked at the difference when not using a CG-Lock, especially with leather seats when normal road driving, or just generally on the track, I have decided to purchase another for the wife’s car.
I believe the CG-Lock is such an advantage in every driving situation, it’s a ‘must have’ especially if you can’t warrant a racing harness."

"As a lucky owner of a Clio Trophy, our cars come equipped with Recaro seats that support the installation of a full racing harness. However my experience has been that a racing harness in a car without a roll cage is not necessarily a safe option (in case the roof caves in to the car, for example during a roll, where the driver will remain in position). However the CG Lock achieves 90% of the harnesses benefits (namely keeping the driver in position) while at the same time retains a good level of safety. Better yet, the CG Lock allows the driver to drive the car on a normal road as they normally would; with a race harness you’d struggle to reach even the closest of stereo controls!"

"I purchased my original CG lock at the NEC Motorshow 2007 and WOW…. What a difference.
I’ve used it for ‘normal daily driving’, to and from work, dropping my young sons off at the grandparents and Nursery……… and ALL other day to day activities.
My eldest son, has now moved out of a ‘child seat’ to a booster style seat. With the nature of the well known seat belt, it allows him a lot of movement.I will now be using MY CG Lock to secure him in his ‘booster seat’.
I am now the loser and require a replacement… with the intention of buying a further one for my wife and other son in 12 months or so, when he makes his way to a ‘booster seat’…
I am a member of a car club and the CG lock has been a hot topic… I have given my fellow members only GOOD feedback as the performance of the CG lock… I intend to use my car for track use and can then utilise the CG lock for that :D

"I’ve been using a cg-lock for 2 months now. I’m driving a ’98 VW Passat and cover about 20,000 business miles per year. I can’t state enough, how much this little device has helped reduce my lower back pain I used to suffer whilst driving. By simply holding the lap part of my seatbelt tight, the cg-lock makes my hips stay more firmly against the back of the car seat. It means that my lower torso is no longer sliding about in the seat during cornering and breaking. It has helped to relieve my lower back pain, and has also improved my driving technique. I’m no longer having to brace myself on the steering wheel during breaking. The cg-lock keeps me ‘anchored’ to the chair so that my arms can concentrate on steering and not having to support my body weight during the deceleration under breaking. It’s a great little device. Helps my back, helps my driving and keeps me locked to the car. One day, all cars will come fitted with a cg-lock fitted as standard. It’s worth every penny!"

"Just wanted to let you know that I am a very satisfied customer! Last Saturday, my Mini Cooper S was rear-ended by a Chrysler 300. I was doing about 60, he was around 100. I got not only a big push, but also some rotational velocity from the impact. My CG-Lock was in use and tight like I always wear it which was fortunate because I credit it with helping to save my life! Because I was firmly attached to the seat, I was able to control the car through some very serious and aggressive post-collision maneuvering. Thanks for a really great product!"

"Over the past few weeks I have had the CG-Lock installed in my smart roadster-coupe. The installation was a very simple and easy process, meaning I could get in the car and test the item almost straight away. I started by selecting a test route with a good distance so that I could test the CG-Lock fully. To begin with I did the route with the CG-Lock dis-engaged, to get a benchmark. I did the route twice - once out, and once back. I then pulled over, tightened the belt, and engaged the CG-Lock. The difference the product makes is HUGE. For a long time i’ve found myself submarining under the lap belt under heavy braking, which is a little disconcerting to say the least, but i’ve also found that I was sliding around in the seat during cornering. With the CG-Lock engaged I found I had none of these issues, and felt more at one with what the car was doing, giving me a greater confidence in the car and its handling. This is a fantastic product, and i’ll certainly be buying myself one, and using it a lot, but also recommending it to people."

"I’ve found the cg-lock extremely beneficial. It improves both feel & control and lessens fatigue… useful on the road and invaluable on the track.
One of my regular ‘commutes’ includes about 30 miles each way of country lanes. I really enjoy the drive but always used to have a stiff back at the end of the day from bracing myself through the turns. The CG-Lock has made a big difference.
I usually get paid for giving advice on how to drive quicker on track, well here’s some free advice .. if you’re on track and you haven’t got a harness, get a cg-lock!"

"Well recommended, it really does make a difference for spirited driving. After having tried it, I won’t be without it on the nurburgring."

"Off-road I felt much more secure in the seat. I was thrown about less on bumpy terrain but still was able to move my upper body, essential for trial driving to enable me to look out the window at the canes. The device is especially useful on steep descents, I felt much more secure with none of the usual ‘submarining’ forwards below the lap belt. [Read More]

"The CG-lock works really well on track days, keeping me securely in the seat at all times. Having both seats CG-lock equipped made Calum Lockie’s job of instructing me that much easier."
